Michael & Kimberlee Silva - Shadowbrook

Michael has been actively breeding and showing dogs since the age of twelve when he received an Irish Setter puppy as a present from his parents in 1971. Michael has trained and put obedience, hunting and conformation titles on his personal dogs as well as those (multiple breeds) that were shown for friends and relatives. Michael began showing and breeding Labradors under the Shadowbrook prefix in 1989 when he obtained his first black female, CH Sailin’s Make Room For Jessi, CDX, WC. This wonderful dog introduced him to Kimberlee and the rest was Labrador history!!!

Kimberlee has been actively breeding and showing Labrador Retrievers since 1992 under the Shadowbrook prefix. She has put conformation titles on many of our homebred dogs (Labradors, French Bulldogs & Norwich Terriers). Kimberlee has always been involved with animals (dogs in particular) since she was a very young girl. Kimberlee has worked in the veterinary industry for over 30 years; running large veterinary hospitals and as a registered veterinary technician.

Together, we have put AKC Grand & Championship titles on over 30 home-bred and/or owned Labradors. While it may not seem like a lot, most if not all of these championships were earned at Labrador specialties throughout the United States. We have been honored to have shown many lovely dogs that have won Regional Labrador Specialties over the years and at the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac Specialty where they have been awarded Best of Breed, Best Of Winners (twice), Winners Dog (three times), Reserve Winners Bitch, Best Bred By Exhibitor (Dog), Best of Opposite Sex Puppy and Best Of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes; all accomplishment we are very proud of! Most notably is our homebred boy MBISS GCH Shadowbrook’s McSteamy who was our first LRC Potomac Specialty winner and who we feel had the proper Labrador type and structure as well as a biddable and working temperament.

Michael has been an AKC Judge for 20 years and is licensed to judge Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers and All Breed Jr. Showmanship. Kimberlee has been an AKC judge for 10 years and is licensed to judge Labrador Retrievers. Becoming licensed Labrador Retriever judges was very important to the both of us as we wanted to be part of the advancement of our breed throughout the years; ensuring the hallmark of type {head, coat & tail} along with proper structure and movement remained at the forefront.

We have married for 31 years and have 2 beautiful and intelligent daughters: Alyssa (26) who is in the Army National Guard and Brynne (24) who has a Master’s degree in Public Health and is studying to be a Nurse Practitioner. We have been blessed in that the entire family has been involved in the care, breeding and showing of our dogs over the years.

The sport of dog showing has enriched our lives and has created incredible friendships that have lasted a lifetime; a most important aspect of the sport of showing our dogs. Judging within the United States and abroad in other countries has introduced us to the most fascinating and wonderful people who we have come to know as friends. We are excited, humbled and honored to be invited to judge your Dansk Retriever Klub Specialty Show.

Thank you so much for inviting us… Good luck to all of the exhibitors, but most importantly enjoy your day with each other and with your dogs!

Caroline Campbell - Binnaig

My name is Caroline Campbell. I live on Hopetoun Estate in Scotland, with my family of labradors. My kennel name is Binnaig.
I have showed my Labradors for over 25years. It truly is my passion and over time has became my life. I have made up Uk Sh Ch - all which I bred myself. Although I am a small kennel I have had great success and it has brought me much happiness.

My first serious labrador was a dog call Antonine Harry Potter for Tullochmohr JW Shcm who I incidentally I took from my dear friend Diana Tulloch and never gave him back ( we still to this day laugh about that ). He was my first love and sadly I lost him at 14 1/2 years young. I won best puppy at Crufts 2019 with his great great nephew.

I love the breed for its temperament, biddable nature and reliable friendship. I am currently the President of The Labrador club of Scotland which I take on with great pride. Although showing is my main activity, I also am highly involved with the trialing/working and test side.

I am both honoured and humbled to have been asked to judge at your specialty show. I look forward to it immensely.

Caroline
